Covid claims 245 more, infects 11,463 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 245 more people and 11,463 fresh cases in 24 hours until Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 22,897 and infections to 13,65,158 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 24.28 per cent.

Among the deceased, 128 are male and 117 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 47,207 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 81,64,617 samples as of August 9.

In the past 24 hours, 14,412 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 12,19,859.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 83 and Chattogram logged 71 deaths.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Barishal, Chattogram, Mymensingh, Khulna, Cumilla and Tangail said that a total of 85 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours till Monday morning.

Of the deceased, 50 of the deceased were Covid patients while 35 of them
