A consignment of 17 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccine is set to arrive Dhaka from Beijing on Tuesday, according Chinese deputy chief of mission in Dhaka Hualong Yan.
‘Sinopharm’s 1.7 million doses vaccines under Covax programme departed Beijing at 5:25am Bangladesh time,’ he said on Tuesday.
The consignment is set to arrive today, he said.
China will also engage in co-productions of Sinopharm vaccine in Bangladesh, he added.
Most of the vaccination centres in rural areas had abruptly stopped mass inoculation campaign on Monday due to shortage of Sinopharm vaccine.
China provided a total of 81 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines to Bangladesh under purchase agreement and also as gift.
