226 hospitalised with dengue across Bangladesh

A total of 226 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across Bangladesh in 24 hours till 8:00am on Tuesday, taking the total number of patients to 4,979 across the country since January, 2021.

Of the total patients in the past 24 hours, 211 were hospitalised in Dhaka and 15 in other divisions till Tuesday morning, according to Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

DGHS has so far sent the data of 18 suspected dengue deaths to the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease, Control and Research for confirmation whether the deaths were due to dengue infections, but the IEDCR is yet to give confirmation.

Some 915 dengue patients, including 852 in Dhaka, were undergoing treatment at 41 government and private hospitals across Bangladesh on Tuesday.

In July, a total of 2,286 patients were admitted to hospitals while 2,381 dengue patients were hospitalised in the first ten days in August, which shows a raising trend of dengue infections during the monsoon.

A total of 4,046 people have so far recovered from dengue since January, said the DGHS report.
