53 die at Covid units in 7 Bangladesh districts in 24 hrs

At least 53 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in seven districts in Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.

The districts are Rajshahi, Khulna, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Mymensingh.

Of the deceased, 33 were Covid patients and 20 had symptoms, according to the reports received from the districts.

New Age Staff Correspondent in Rajshahi, quoting Rajshahi Medical College Hospital director Brigadier Shameem Yazdany, reported that 10 patients- three Covid patients and seven others having symptoms - died at the Covid unit of the hospital in the past 24 hours.

In Khulna, four Covid patients died in the Covid Dedicated Hospital while two Covid patients died in Shaheed Sheikh Abu Naser Specialized Hospital and another Covid patient died in Khulna City Medical College Hospital, New Age correspondent in Khulna, quoting officials of the hospitals, reported.

New Age Islamic University correspondent, quoting Kushtia civil surgeon Anowarul Islam, reported that two Covid patients and another having symptoms died in the district during the time.

Our Correspondent in Barishal, referring to a release by Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, reported that three covid patients and seven others with symptoms died in the hospital’s Covid unit in the past 24 hours ending 8:00am on Wednesday.

New Age correspondent in Chattogram, quoting the district civil surgeon Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, reported that a total of 12 Covid patients died in the hospitals in Chattogram in past 24 hours.

New Age correspondent in Mymensingh, quoting the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital’s Covid unit focal person Dr Mahiuddin Khan Moon, reported that six Covid patients and four others with symptoms died in the Covid units of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital during the time.

During the time, one patient with symptoms died in the Covid unit of Satkhira Medical College Hospital in the past 24 hours, reported New Age Correspondent in the district, quoting the hospital superintendent.
