Covid-19 claims 237 more, infects 10,420 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh recorded an additional Covid death of 237 more people and 10,420 infections in 24 hours until Wednesday morning.

Of the deceased, record high 105 people died in Dhaka division in the timeline.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 23,398 and infections to 13,86,742 since it had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 23.45 per cent.

Among the deceased, 134 are male and 103 female are patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 44,430 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 707 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 82,56,471 samples as of August 11.

In the past 24 hours, 13,313 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 12,48,075.

In case of the divisions, Dhaka logged the highest death toll of 105 and Chattogram logged 54 deaths.

Reports received from Rajshahi, Khulna, Kushtia, Barishal, Chattogram, Satkhira and Mymensingh said that a total of 53 patients died at the Covid units of hospitals in the districts in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.

Of the deceased, 33 were Covid patients and 20 had symptoms.
