Covid death toll crosses 27,000 mark in Bangladesh

The death toll from Covid infection in Bangladesh crossed 27,000 mark on Tuesday.

In 24 hours ending Tuesday morning, Covid claimed lives of 35 people and infected 2,074 others in the country.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 27,007 and infections to 15,34,440 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The daily test positivity rate is 6.54 per cent.

Among the deceased, 21 are male and 14 are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 31,724 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country at 806 laboratories while Bangladesh had tested 93,03,845 samples as of September 14.

In the past 24 hours, 3,735 patients recovered from the viral disease totaling the recovery to 14,86,668.

In case of the divisions, highest 15 deaths were reported in Dhaka division and eight others died in Chattogram.
