Two cases filed against Kanak Sarwar’s sister Raka

RAB has filed two cases against US expatriate journalist Kanak Sarwar’s sister Nusrat Shahrin Raka after her arrest. However, earlier this month, Raka had lodged a general diary (GD) with Uttara West Police Station alleging that a fake Facebook account had been launched in her name and various anti-government posts had been published since then.

A press release issued by the RAB on Tuesday night said that the elite force arrested Nusrat Shahrin following a raid at her house in Uttara area of the capital on Tuesday.

Later, RAB filed two cases against Shahrin with Uttara West Police Station.

RAB-1 company commander Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Momen said two cases have been filed under Narcotics Control Act and Digital Security Act.

Shahrin has been handed over to the police station.

When asked where Shahrin is now, Uttara West Police Station OC Akhtaruzzaman Ilyas said that she is now in police custody. She will be produced before the court tomorrow.

RAB has claimed that an ordinary housewife Raka is the member of anti-state conspirators, and propagandists. That is why she has been arrested.

On October 1, Raka in her GD with the police station said a fake Facebook account had been opened in her name and various anti-government posts had been published since then.

She was arrested before taking any legal steps regarding her GD.
