Three persons died after being electrocuted while trying to fix a torn wire used for drying clothes in Sherpur upazila of Bogura this morning.
The deceased were Khitish Chandra Gedu (56), Palash (40) and Khitish Chandra (42) of Charkuta village in Bishalpur union, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Police Station.
Citing witnesses, OC Shahidul said, Khitish Chandra Gedu was trying to fix a torn string in front of his house when he came into contact with an electric wire.
His neighbours Palash and Khitish Chandra came to his rescue but got themselves electrocuted also the OC said.
Gedu's son Rubel also tried to rescue them. Later, locals cut off the electricity connection and rushed them to the hospital.
"Gedu and Palash died on the spot while Khitish was declared dead after being taken to the hospital. Rubel has sustained injuries but is out of danger," the OC added.
