Rainfall likely to continue for two more days in Bangladesh

Rainfall accompanied by gusty wind is taking place at different places in Bangladesh and the current weather is likely to prevail till Thursday, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast.

The southwest monsoon has withdrawn from the northern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is active elsewhere over Bangladesh and moderate over the North Bay, the Met Office said in its 9am weather bulletin on Tuesday.

The mercury may drop slightly at night due to incessant rainfall, meteorologist Ruhul Kuddus told.

A depression has formed in the West Bay and adjoining areas, while the previous one is now over the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and adjacent areas, the BMD said.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal and Sylhet divisions and at many places in Chittagong division with moderate to heavy falls at other places, read the weather bulletin.

Due to strong winds, the seaports and river ports have been asked to continue hoisting local cautionary signal No 3 and cautionary signal No 1, respectively. Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been asked to proceed with caution until further notice.
