A Dhaka court on Monday directed the police to attach any moveable and immoveable properties of four fugitive accused, including Zulkarnain Saer Khan alias Sami and journalist Tasneem Khalil, by November 8 in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
The two other fugitive accused are Ashiq Imran and Shapan Wahed.
Judge Mohammad Ash Sams Joglul Hossain of the Dhaka’s Cyber Tribunal passed the order, asking the officers-in-charge (OC) of four police stations to attach the properties in response to a petition submitted by the prosecution.
The OCs of Cantonment police station of Dhaka, Bishwanath of Sylhet, Chandpur and Chhatkhil police station of Noakhali have been directed to submit reports on execution of the order by November 8.
The case was filed by RAB-3 against them with Ramna police station on charge of spreading rumours and carrying out anti-government activities.
Three other accused in the case cartoonist Ahmed Kabir Kishore, BLE Securities Managing Director and former director of Dhaka Stock Exchange Minhaj Mannan Emon, and "Rastrachinta" Coordinator Didarul Islam Bhuiyan are now on bail.
On September 12, the cyber tribunal accepted charges against Kishore and six others in the case.
On that day, the tribunal also issued an arrest warrant against Sami, who appeared in allegedly a false and politically motivated documentary of Al Jazeera, Netra News Editor-in-Chief Tasneem, Ashik Imran, and Wahidun Nabi Swapan alias Swapan Wahid.
The name of writer Mushtaq Ahmed was dropped from the charge sheet as he died at Kashimpur High Security Jail on February 25.
