Two people, including a student, died and five others were injured when a bus overturned on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway at Memberbari in Gazipur today.
One of the deceased was identified as Kona, while identity of the other deceased could not be known immediately, reports our local correspondent.
Quoting eyewitnesses and locals, Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mawna Highway Police Station, said that the accident took place around 10:30am as the Dhaka-bound bus of Shoukhin Paribahan from Mymensingh tried to overtake another bus.
The driver lost control of the bus as it skidded off the road and overturned, leaving passenger Kona and a pedestrian dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the bodies and seized the bus, said the OC, adding that the injured bus passengers were taken to a local hospital.
Traffic movement on the highway is now back to normal, the OC added.
