Bangladesh reports lowest Covid death in 19 months

Bangladesh logged only one Covid deathin 24 hours ending 8:00am on Saturday after 19 months.

This is the lowest single-day Covid death in the country in 19 months since April 9, 2020 when the country reported only one Covid death in 24 hours.

A total of 154 others tested positive for the viral disease in 24 hours ending 8:00am on Saturday.

The fresh positive cases account for 1.18 per cent of 13,072 samples tested during the period, said the Directorate General of Health Services in its daily update.

With the latest figures, the official Covid death toll has reached 27,891 and the tally of Covid cases is 15,70,835 since the first Covid cases were detected in the country on March 8, 2020.

The daily Covid cases and deaths seem to have stabilised, with the daily caseload staying below 500 and deaths below 10.

The daily caseload had been above 1,000 for four months till September 25.

The number of cases started decreasing at a steady rate from August.
