Two die in ‘gunfight’ with RAB in Moulvibazar

Two suspected criminals were killed in a reported gunfight with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Moulvibazar on Sunday.

They are Tofael Miah, 35, and Shahid Miah, 40 — both accused in a case filed over the murder of a local business association leader.

The two reportedly opened fire at a vehicle of RAB in Mirtinga tea garden area in the early hours of Sunday. The elite force retaliated in self-defence, shooting the two dead in the process.

RAB later recovered the two bodies from the spot and handed them over to Srimangal police.

Inspector Sohel Rana of Kamolganj police station said Tofael and Shahid were accused in the case lodged over the murder of local business leader Nazmul Hasan which took place on October 31.
