Covid-19: Bangladesh records 5 deaths

Bangladesh registered five new deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours to Tuesday morning.

Besides, in the 24-hour period, the country also recorded 291 new cases while seeing 308 patients recover, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest additions took the country’s death toll to 28,010, the total caseload to 1,578,011 and the total number of recoveries to 1,542,908.

A total 20,014 samples were tested at 848 labs across the country during the 24-hour period, yielding a positivity rate of 1.45%.

According to the data, the country’s overall Covid-19 mortality rate until Tuesday morning stood at 1.78%, overall recovery rate at 97.78%, and the overall positivity lowered to 14.32%.

The seven-day moving average of single-day deaths in Bangladesh was 3.57 on Tuesday.

In terms of deaths per division, Dhaka logged the highest with four fatalities while Chittagong recorded one.

Of the new patients, Dhaka logged 219 cases, the highest among the divisions. No new cases were reported in 35 districts of the country.
