The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were launched this morning by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the capital.
After virtually joining the event from Gono Bhaban, the PM officially published the results. Education Minister Dipu Moni will hold a press conference to discuss the results soon.
A total of 93.58 percent candidates have passed this year's SSC and equivalent examinations.
The pass rate of SSC is 94.08 percent, for madrasa it's 93.22 percent and for vocational 88.49 percent.
In total, 93.15 percent students passed the SSC exams under Dhaka Board, 91.12 percent under Chattogram, 96.27 percent in Cumilla, 90.19 percent in Barishal, 96.78 percent in Sylhet, 94.80 percent in Dinajpur, 93.09 percent in Jashore, 97.52 percent in Mymensingh, and 94.71 percent in Rajshahi Board.
A total of 49,530 students scored GPA-5 in Dhaka board, 12,791 in Chattogram, 14,626 in Cumilla, 10,219 in Barishal, 4,834 in Sylhet, 17,578 in Dinajpur, 16,461 in Jashore, 27,709 in Rajshahi and 10,092 in Mymensingh.
This year, the exams took place between November 14 and 23 -- nine months after the scheduled time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Examinees sat for tests in only three optional subjects, apart from compulsory subjects like Bangla, English and Mathematics, with shortened syllabuses. The total marks for the exams were also lessened.
The results of the three optional subjects and the grade point average of the students' previous public examinations, including Junior School Certificate, were taken into consideration while preparing the final results.
Around 22,27,113 students sat for this year's SSC and equivalent exams.
