A student of Chittagong University was found dead this morning in a privately owned cottage adjacent to the campus.
The deceased was identified as Anik Chakma (20), a first year student of Marine Science and Fisheries Institute, CU Assistant Proctor Shahidul Islam told.
A team of CU proctorial body members and police rushed to the scene after receiving information and recovered the body at 1:20pm, he said.
According to campus sources, Anik's friends went to the S Alam cottage, just across the street from CU's Shahjalal Hall, around 8am today to meet him.
They found the door of his room locked from inside and knocked repeatedly but received no response.
They informed the cottage owner of the situation, and when they broke open the door, they found Anik's body hanging from the ceiling.
According to the assistant proctor, a five-page suicide note was found next to the body.
