Education minister Dipu Moni on Monday said that the educational institutions in Bangladesh would be closed again if required due to the Covid-19 situation.
‘We are always observing the corona situation closely. If we think that the number of classes should be reduced for the sake of health of the students and the teachers, we will do that. If we need to close educational institutions, we will do that,’ she said.
She was talking to the reporters at the International Mother Language Institution in Dhaka after a programme.
The minister said that it would take at least March to understand the Covid situation for fully reopening of schools.
The educational institutions across the country were closed in March 2020 due to the Covid pandemic and the closure was extended several times, with the primary, secondary and higher secondary educational institutions reopening on September 12, 2021.
