Police arrested five youths on early Friday, hours after they had allegedly raped a teenage schoolgirl in Chhatni area under Sadar upazila in Natore district.
Monsur Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Natore police station said that the teenage girl quarreled with his family members and left home for her aunt’s residence at Vatpara on foot on Thursday.
When she reached Chhatni area, she met Shahid ul Islam, son of Makbul Hossain of Majhdighi village under the upazila, who assured her to take her to her aunt's house safely.
On their way to Vatpara, seven local youth waylaid them, forcibly took the girl to a nearby lemon orchard and raped her.
Based on the victim’s allegations, we conducted a drive and arrested five of the accused, the OC said.
