Helium cylinder blast in Cumilla: 3 critically injured sent to Dhaka

Three critically injured patient in the incident of helium cylinder blast in Cumilla's Nangalkot upazila are being taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital today.

The three balloon sellers--Anwar (35) Abdur Rob (26) and Shah Alam (55) were referred to DMCH for better treatment, reports our local correspondent quoting Dr Mohammad Shefayet Ullah, in-charge of the casualty department at Cumilla Medical College Hospital.

"At present, about 16 injured, mostly children are being treated at CMCH. Emergency surgeries were conducted on two children last night," said Shefayet.

Cumilla Civil Surgeon Mir Mubarak Hossain said that apart from CMCH, five are admitted in Cumilla Sadar Hospital and two at Nangalkot Upazila Complex.

Around 40, including 35 children sustained injuries when a helium cylinder, used to pump gas into balloons, exploded in Cumilla's Nangalkot around 4:30 pm yesterday.
