Bangladesh announces closure of educational instts until Feb 6

Bangladesh government on Friday announced closure of educational institutions between today and February 6 to contain the spread of Covid infection.

The cabinet division, in a circular uploaded in its website, also gave five more directives in the backdrop of a spike in Covid cases across Bangladesh.

The directives said that the schools, colleges and their equivalent educational institutions would remain closed between January 21 and February 6 and the authorities of the universities would take similar decision.

Besides, not more than 100 people would be allowed to gather in social, religious, political or state programmes and the participants will have to carry vaccine certificates or reports of Covid tests conducted within 24 hours of the programme.

The directives said that the officials and staff of all the government and non-government offices and factories would have to take vaccine certificate.

It said that wearing masks and following health rules are mandatory in all type of public gathering at public places including markets, shopping malls, bus stands, launch terminals and rail stations.

The circular said that the local administrations and law enforcement agencies would monitor the situation.
