A member of the cleaning staff of the city corporation was killed after a garbage truck ran over her early on Sunday.
Shikha Rani Gharani was hit by the truck at the city’s Mohakhali around 2am, said police.
Quoting witnesses, Assistant Commissioner Md Md Mahmud Khan told an English daily that the truck ran over Shikha while she was cleaning the street near the flyover.
The vehicle was yet to be identified, he said before adding the body has been kept at the Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.
Sunday’s road accident death is the third since November last year in Dhaka involving city corporation garbage trucks.
On November 25, a Dhaka North City Corporation truck ran over a motorbike at Karwan Bazar killing the rider, a day after a Notre Dame student was killed by a garbage truck of South City Corporation at Gulistan.
