Bangladesh reports 14 more Covid deaths, 10,906 cases

Covid-19 claimed the lives of 14 more patients and infected 10,906 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Saturday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,223 and infections to 16,85,136 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 31.29 per cent. The rate was 28.02 per cent on Saturday, 28.49 per cent on Friday, 26.37 per cent on Thursday and 25.11 per cent on Wednesday.

Of the deceased, six are male patients and the remaining eight are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 34,854 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 1,21,16,880 samples as of January 23.

During the reporting period, a total of 782 patients were recovered from the infection. With this, a total of 15,56,861 people recovered from the viral disease.

Of the deceased, five died in Dhaka, two died in Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh and divisions each and one died in Khulna, Barishal and Rangpur divisions each, according to the DGHS data.
