Bangladesh reports 15 more Covid deaths, 14,828 cases

Covid-19 claimed the lives of 15 more patients and infected 14,828 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Monday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,238 and infections to 16,99,964 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 32.37 per cent. The rate was 31.29 per cent on Sunday, 28.02 per cent on Saturday, 28.49 per cent on Friday, 26.37 per cent on Thursday and 25.11 per cent on Wednesday.

Of the deceased, nine are male patients and the remaining six are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 45,807 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 1,21,62,687 samples as of January 24.

During the reporting period, a total of 998 patients were recovered from the infection. With this, a total of 15,57,859 people recovered from the viral disease.

Of the deceased, six died in Dhaka, three in Mymensingh, two in Sylhet and one died in Chattogram, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions each, according to the DGHS data.
