Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan passes away from Covid-19

Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan, who was recently elevated to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, died of Covid-19 at a city hospital this morning.

He breathed his last around 6:15 am while being treated at the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, according to Supreme Court sources.

Four High Court judges on January 9, were elevated to the Appellate Division. Among them, three took oath on that day, with Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan unable to do so due to his illness.

Justice Ahasan was supposed to take retirement on February 15.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at 11:00 am today at the Supreme Court premises.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique has expressed deep shock over the death of Justice Ahasan.

In a condolence message, the chief justice prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and extended sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Law Minister Anisul Huq, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim and Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, also condoled the death, among others.
