Bangladesh reports 36 more Covid deaths, 8,359 cases

Covid-19 claimed the lives of 36 more patients and infected 8,359 others across Bangladesh in 24 hours ending Saturday morning.

With the latest statistics, the total death toll hits 28,560 and infections to 18,53,187 since the country had recorded the first Covid infection on March 8, 2020, and death from the viral disease on March 18, 2020.

The day’s test positivity rate is 23.83 per cent.

Of the deceased, 21 are male patients and the remaining 15 ones are female patients.

The Directorate General of Health Services came up with the latest statistics on its daily Covid press release.

A total of 35,074 samples have been tested during the reporting period across the country while Bangladesh had tested 1,26,87,588 samples as of February 5.

During the reporting period, a total of 7,017 patients were recovered from the infection. With this, a total of 15,94,391 people recovered from the viral disease.

Of the deceased, 25 died in Dhaka division, three in Khulna, two each in Chattogram, Rangpur and Mymensingh and one each died in Rajshahi and Sylhet division.

The release said that a total of 27 patients died in government hospitals and nine died in non-government hospitals during the reporting period.
