The search committee, constituted by President Abdul Hamid for the appointments of Chief Election Commission and Election Commissioners, will seek opinions of 60 eminent citizens of the country.

On top of that, the committee will also send letters to registered political parties asking them to suggest names of their preferred persons.

The development came following a meeting of the search committee held at Judges Lounge of the Supreme Court today, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam told reporters after the meeting.

"The search committee will sit with 60 eminent citizens of the country next Saturday and Sunday. Besides, the registered political parties will be asked for their proposed names by letter tomorrow. They will be able to submit their proposed names by Friday," he said.

Each political party can propose ten names before the search committee.
