Four people were killed and another was injured as a pickup truck collided head-on with an autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria on Wednesday.
The deceased are Md Dudu Mia, Md Farid Mia, Mursheda Begum and Husne Ara Begum.
Khatihata highway police station OC Md Shahjalal said the Sylhet-bound pickup collided with the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction in the Rampur area at around 7am, leaving two dead on the spot and three others injured.
One of the three injured persons died after being taken to Brahmanbaria General Hospital, while another died on the way to Dhaka.
Police later confiscated the pickup but its driver had fled the area by then, said the OC.
