Road accidents kill 1,012 in Jan-Feb across Bangladesh

At least 1,012 people were killed and 1,146 others were injured in 848 road accidents across Bangladesh in January and February months this year, said a report published by the Road Safety Foundation on Saturday.

At least 37 people were killed in 12 waterway accidents in the same period, the report said.

It said that at least 35 people were killed and six more were injured in 26 railways accidents in these months.

The report was prepared on the basis of news coverage of accidents published in seven national daily newspapers, five online news portals and television channels, said a press release of the organisation on Saturday.

Of the road accidents, 42.21 per cent or 358 were motorcycle related accidents, in which 39.82 per cent or 403 people were killed.
