Covid-19: Bangladesh logs 323 infections, one death in 24 hours

Bangladesh recorded 323 coronavirus infections with one patient dying in the 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.

The positivity rate came down to 1.97% during the same period as 16,225 samples were tested across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

On Tuesday, the country logged seven deaths and 446 fresh Covid-19 cases.

The latest additions took the country's death toll to 29,097 and the total caseload to 19,48,471.

A total of 2,824 people recovered from Covid-19 in the meantime taking the total recovery to 18,52,770.

The single death of a male patient was recorded in Sylhet division.

 

On January 28, Bangladesh logged its earlier highest daily positivity rate at 33.37% reporting 15,440 cases and 20 deaths.

On December 9 last year, Bangladesh again logged zero Covid-related death after nearly three weeks as the pandemic was apparently showing signs of easing.

The country reported the first zero death from the coronavirus in a single day on November 20 last year along with 178 infections since the pandemic broke out in Bangladesh in March 2020.

Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.
