5 BCL activists of Jagannath University injured in factional clash

At least five activists of Jagannath University unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League were injured in factional clashes over establishing supremacy on the campus last night.

Followers of JnU BCL president and general secretary first engaged in scuffles to draw first year students to their respective sides around 7:30pm last night, campus sources said.

They again clashed in Old Dhaka's Malitola Park that left five persons injured, they said.

The injured are: Gazi Md Shamsul Huda, Khairul Aman, Abdul Barek, Mohammad Sayeed and Miraj Hossain. Four of them, except Miraj, were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

JnU BCL president Ibrahim Forazi claimed first year students caused the incident while General Secretary SM Akter Hussain blamed district students' welfare organisations for the scuffle.

JnU Proctor Mostofa Kamal said they would take steps identifying those involved in the clash.
