The government has picked 10 individuals and one institution for "Swadhinata Padak 2022" (Independence Award), for their outstanding contributions to the country.
This information was disclosed through a notification signed by Additional Secretary (Committee and Economic) Md Zillur Rahman Chowdhury today.
Six recipients of the award -- Ilias Ahmed Chowdhury, Col Khandoker Nazmul Huda (posthumous), Abdul Jalil, Siraj Uddin Ahmed, Md Sohiuddin Biswas (posthumous), Sirajul Haque (posthumous) -- have been named for their contributions to the Independence Liberation War in 1971.
Prof Dr Konok Kanti Borua and Prof Dr Md Kamrul Islam will receive the award for their contribution in the medicine sector; Md Amir Hamza for literature; and Mainul Hossain for architecture.
Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute (BWMRI) will receive the award in the research and training category.
