Covid-19: Bangladesh logs zero deaths two days in a row

Bangladesh again recorded zero deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the country logged zero deaths after three months amid signs that the pandemic is easing with a declining positivity rate.

The health authorities also reported 182 new infections in the 24-hour period.

The positivity rate receded to 1.38% during the same period as 13,062 samples were tested across the country, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The latest additions took the country's total caseload to 1,950,124 while the death toll remains static at 29,112.

A total of 1,192 people recovered from Covid-19, in the meantime, taking the total recovery to 1,865,600.

On December 9 last year, Bangladesh logged zero Covid-related deaths.

The country reported the first zero deaths from the coronavirus in a single day on November 20 last year.

Besides, the country registered the highest daily caseload of 16,230 on July 28 last year, while the highest number of daily fatalities was 264 on August 10 last year.
