Five people have been killed and two others were injured in a crash between a car and a truck on the Chittagong -Cox’s Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila of Chittagong early Monday.
Three of the deceased were identified as Harunur Rashid, 30, Saidul, 33, and Humayun, 25. They were residents of Lohagara upazila.
The Cox's Bazar-bound car collided with the Chittagong -bound truck near Adhunik Nagar Bazar, leaving two people, travelling in the car, dead on spot and five others injured, said Sirajul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dohazari Highway Police Station.
Two others died on the way to a local hospital, he added.
Three injured people were sent to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where Humayun succumbed to his injuries around 10am.
Two vehicles were seized, said the OC.
