Four people were killed and two injured when a pickup van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi this morning.
The accident happened around 6:30am in front of an LPG filling station on Raipura-Arshinagar road in Amirganj union, said Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Raipura Police Station.
The deceased were identified as Ain Uddin (40), Qayyum Uddin (18), Monir Hossain (35), and Abdur Rauf (62), our local correspondent reports. The Dhaka-bound pickup van which was heading towards Raipura, hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, the OC said.
Four passengers including the driver of the auto-rickshaw died on the spot and two other passengers of the vehicle suffered serious injuries, he added.
The pickup van was seized but its driver managed to flee. The injured were taken to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, the police official added.
