A cement-laden bulkhead capsized after being hit by a passenger launch in the Dhaleshwari river in Munshiganj Sadar upazila this morning.
The bulkhead sank around 6:30 am when it was hit by a Sadarghat-bound passenger launch -- MV Zahid-3 Sadarghat, said in-charge of Muktarpur Naval Police Outpost Lutfar Rahman.
The bulkhead, which was on its way to Pabna's Nagarbari from Crown Cement Factory in Muktarpur area of Munshiganj, sank in the river with 7,500 sacks of cement, our Munshiganj correspondent reports quoting the official.
In this incident, three of the five staff members of the bulkhead managed to board a trawler nearby. The other two staff boarded the passenger launch. No one else is missing in the incident, he added.
Discussions are being held with the owner to recover the bulkhead, he said.
