A doctor was stabbed to death by suspected muggers at Shewrapara in Dhaka on early Sunday.
The incident took place at about 5:30am in Shewrapara Metrorail Station area.
The deceased, Bulbul Hossain, 38, was a dentist, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Mirpur division deputy commissioner of police ASM Mahatab Uddin.
Bulbul left his home in the morning for going to Noakhali.
Police suspected that it was a mugging incident and the cellphone of Bulbul went missing.
DC Mahatab said that Bulbul was stabbed in his thigh.
Local people rescued the victim and took him to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital where he died due to excessive bleeding.
Police said that if the miscreants were snatchers, they would take the victim’s money and mobile phone. However, they did not snatch these. The incident is being seriously investigated.
Mirpur police station officer-in-charge Mostajirur Rahman said that the killer did not take Tk 12,000 from the victim.
