Writ petition seeks HC directives to keep primary schools shut during Ramadan

A Supreme Court lawyer today filed a writ petition with the High Court, challenging the government's decision to continue the classes at primary schools till the 20th Ramadan.

Md Eunus Ali Akond submitted the petition as a public interest litigation, requesting the HC to order the government for keeping the primary schools closed during the whole month of Ramadan.

Citing the petition, Eunus told The Daily Star that all educational institutions of the country remain shut during Ramadan as around 95 percent people are Muslims here.

If the primary students attend the classes wearing masks during Ramadan, they may fall sick due to hot weather, he said.

The HC may hear the petition tomorrow (March 28, 2022).
