Dhaka College closes hostels till May 5; students asked to leave by 5pm

Following the clash between students and traders in Dhaka's New Market area, the authorities of Dhaka College has closed its hostels till May 5.

Dhaka College students have been asked to leave hostels by 5pm today, according to an order signed by Acting Principal ATM Mainul Hossain.

There are eight hostels at Dhaka College.

Earlier, Dhaka College authorities suspended all classes and examinations for today (April 19, 2022), a post from the college's verified Facebook page said.

"Due to unavoidable reasons, all classes and examinations of Dhaka College's higher secondary and honours-masters programmes scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, have been suspended. All teachers are requested to be at the college by 10 am," the post read.

Around 11:30pm last night, a clash broke out between the students and traders in the New market area, adjacent to Dhaka College.

The clash resumed this morning, leaving 25 people injured.
