The River Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a teenager who had drowned after a speedboat sank in Chittagong's Sandwip Channel during a nor’wester earlier in the morning.
The deceased is 14-year-old Nusrat Jahan Anika.
The incident was reported around 9:30am, when a speedboat carrying 20 passengers was heading towards Sandwip's Maitbhanga Ghat, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Zafarullah of the River Police.
"The speedboat sank before reaching the terminal due to gales and huge waves during the hailstorm. A girl's body has been found, but a child is still missing,” he added.
The 18 others aboard were rescued alive.
