At least 10 people were killed and 20 were injured when a passenger bus hit a tree at Wazirpur upazila in Barishal.
The accident occurred around 5:30am this morning. Names of the deceased were not known immediately, reports our local correspondent quoting Ali Arshad, officer-in-charge of Wazirpur Police Station.
The injured have been admitted at Barishal's Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, the OC said, adding that "The death toll is expected to rise."
Nine people died on the spot, and another died in the hospital while undergoing treatment, the OC added.
According to eyewitnesses and locals, fire service carried out the rescue operation.
Further details about the accident could not be known immediately.
