Cumilla city polls: 5 jailed for vote rigging, chaos

Five people were jailed for casting fake votes and trying to create chaos at various centres during Cumilla City Corporation election today.

Confirming the jail sentence, Cumilla District Additional Magistrate Shahadat Hossain told The Daily Star, "Four outsiders have been sentenced to three to seven days in prison for trying to create chaos in front of a centre while another was given three months' imprisonment for casting fake vote."

"Five persons were also detained from different centres over various reason but they were later released after they were confirmed to be voters," Shahadat Hossain added.
