Dedicated Hajj flight from Sylhet: First Biman aircraft leaves for Jeddah

The first of two dedicated Hajj flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines to be operated from Sylhet, left the Osmani International Airport today en route to Jeddah.

The flight BG-3131 with 419 pilgrims on board departed at 10:00am and is scheduled to reach Jeddah at 01:30 local time, Biman said in a press release.

This year, 60,000 pilgrims will perform hajj from Bangladesh.

Biman will carry 30,000 pilgrims through 67 dedicated flights including two from Sylhet for the convenience of hajj pilgrims of that region.

The next Hajj flight from Sylhet will leave on June 30.

Md Nowsad Hossain, Director and Deputy Secretary, Directorate of Finance, Biman was present as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the direct hajj flight from Sylhet.

Abdul Gani, acting director, Sylhet Osmani International Airport, Zahirul Kabir Chowdhury, President, Sylhet Zone, HAAB, Ziaur Rahman Khan Rezwan, among others were present at the programme.
