Govt turning country into hell: BNP

Main opposition BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday said that the country was turning into a hell as the government was exercising an inhuman culture of filing fictitious cases against the BNP leaders and activists.

The politically-motivated cases against the Bangladesh Nationalist Party leaders and activists confirm that the ruling Awami League wants to be the lord of the country, said the leader in a statement.

He opined that the government resorted to a reckless action of inhumanity to make the country BNP-free.

‘The Awami League is misleading people whose welfare is not its concern. It is filing cases against the BNP leaders and activists at all levels,’ claimed Fakhrul.

The purpose of such misdeeds is to hold in check those daring to protest at the terrible misrule, corruption and looting by the government, he added.

The BNP leader argued that people would not be free and the spirit of the War of Independence won’t be realised until democracy was restored by overthrowing this illegitimate government.

He strongly condemned the cases filed against 19 leaders and activists of Munshiganj BNP, including Louhjong Thana BNP general secretary Tuhin Khandaker and district unit Juba Dal joint general secretary Rajib Khan.
