Jewellers on Wednesday lowered the price of gold by Tk 1,166 to Tk 78,382 a bhari (11.664 gram) on the local market as the price of the precious metal has fallen on the global market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers’ Samity in a press release said that the prices of the gold were reduced on the local market amid a fall in the prices of the metal on the global market.
According to BAJUS, the price of 22-karat gold has been decreased to Tk 78,383 a bhari from Tk 79,548 a bhari.
The price of 21-karat gold has been decreased to Tk 74,882 a bhari from Tk 75,933 a bhari and that of 18-karat gold to Tk 64,152 a bhari from Tk 65,085 a bhari.
The price of traditional gold has been dropped to Tk 53,479 a bhari from Tk 54,238 a bhari, the release said.
The new price will be effective on the local market today, said the release.
On May 26, jewellers decreased the price of the gold to Tk 79,548 from the record high Tk 82,464 a bhari which was set on May 21.
