The International Crimes Tribunal handed down death sentence to six people today (July 28, 2022) for committing crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in Khulna.
Justice Md Shahinur Islam, Justice Md Abu Ahmed Jomadar, and Justice KM Hafizul Alam pronounced the verdict this afternoon.
The convicts are Amjad Hossain Howlader, Shahar Ali Sardar, Atiar Rahman, Motasim Billah, Kamal Uddin Goldar, and Md Nazrul Islam. Of the six, Nazrul Islam is still absconding.
Lawyer Abdus Sattar Polowan and state-appointed lawyer Gazi MH Tamim heard the case on behalf of the accused. Prosecutors Mokhlesur Rahman Badal and Sabina Yasmin Khan Munni were on behalf of the state.
