Pranay Kumar Verma, the current Indian ambassador to Vietnam, has been appointed as the next Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh.
A press release issued today by the Ministry of External Affairs of India confirmed the development.
"Shri Pranay Kumar Verma (IFS:1994), presently Ambassador of India to Socialist Republic of Vietnam, has been appointed as the next High Commissioner of India to the People's Republic of Bangladesh," reads the release.
The new high commissioner will replace Vikram Kumar Doraiswami, India's current envoy the Bangladesh.
Pranay Kumar Verma is expected to take up the assignment shortly, the release added.
