A meeting is underway between the Election Commission and some of its former office-bearers to discuss issues centring on polls.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal is presiding over the meeting at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon of Dhaka which started at 11am on Wednesday.
Election commissioners Rashida Sultana, Md Alamgir and Md Anisur Rahman were present at the meeting.
Among past commission officials, former chief election commissioners Abdur Rauf, KM Nurul Huda, Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad, former election commissioners M Sakhawat Hossain, Kabita Khanam, former election commission secretaries Mohammad Sadiq, Mohammad Abdullah, and former additional secretaries Jasmine Tuli and Mokhlesur Rahman were in attendance.
The Kazi Habibul Awal-led Election Commission has held several polls during its tenure.
It recently cancelled the by-election to Gaibandha-5 over allegations of irregularities.
In such circumstances, the commission is holding the meeting with former officials to ask them for their opinions so it can plan better for future polls.
