Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast light rain in Dhaka since this morning (October 24, 2022) due to cyclone Sitrang formed over the east-central Bay.
The rain will continue to fall in Dhaka tomorrow (October 25, 2022), according to the Met office.
Meteorologist Hafizur Rahman told The Daily Star around 9am that the country's highest rainfall -- 71 mm -- has been recorded at Khepupara in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali.
The depression over the east-central Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas moved northeastward, intensified into a deep depression, and then strengthened into cyclonic storm Sitrang, he said.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at most places over Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country. At the same time, moderate to heavy rains may occur at some places across the country, he added.
This forecast will remain till 6pm today.
