Dengue fever: 6 die, 559 hospitalised 24 hours

At least six dengue patients died while 559 others were admitted to different hospitals across the country in 24 hours till this morning.

With the new deaths, a total of 226 people died of dengue fever this year while the total number of cases rose to 52,161 of which 18,410 were from outside of Dhaka.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), among the deaths, 135 were in Dhaka, 24 in Cox's Bazar, 30 in Chattogram, 10 in Barishal, seven in Khulna, six in Mymensingh, four in Rajshahi, two in Narail and one each in Narsingdi, Kushtia, Pabna, Bagerhat, Khagrachhari, Bogura, Madaripur and Feni.

A total of 49,171 patients have already been released, of them, 17,107 are from outside the capital.

Some 2,764 dengue patients are still undergoing treatment of which 1,212 are from outside of Dhaka.
