A fire broke out at Orbit Textile Mills in Gazipur Sadar around 8:00am today.
Three fire engines rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control before 10:00am, said Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence.
Nearby sources of water made the job easy for members of the fire department, he added.
"The fire may have originated from a machine inside the factory and then spread to a nearby cotton warehouse," said Dulal, inspector of Gazipur Industrial Police.
No one was injured in the incident, he added.
Shahinul Haque, director (operations) of Orbit Textile Mills, said they were yet to determine the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
